Part 1

My dog Mattie-She thinks she is a great dane.  She is long and small like a hotdog.  She is a cookie… spotted and sweet.  She is one special cookie!

Amelia’s 5th-Grade Notebook
From the book                                                     What this means to me

The whole book

The whole book

“Toe socks-they’re like gloves for your feet!” (What I love about winter)

“What do naked, winged babies have to do with love anyway?  They should at least wear diapers!” (Love, Who?)

“Maybe I could send Max a message with those candy hearts.  O U KID   U R SWEET   BUT  I LIKE U  NOT!”

”Best of all, the girls were so tired, they were little angels the rest of the night.  All I had to do was read Curious George 62 times.”

“My stomach was queasy.  My legs were spagetti.  My feet were lumpy meatballs.” (Jump for Joy)

I am reminded of my middle school planner.

I like the way she writes everything she is thinking and draws a lot of pictures.

I love this quote because I can relate to her.  I love wearing toe socks because they keep me warm and cozy.

I have often wondered what cupids have to do with Valentines.  She can read my mind.

This is hiliarous!  I think she is very creative and funny.  Why didn’t I think of that?

I am reminded of my babysitting days.  I wonder why kids like to hear the same story over and over?

I always feel like my legs are spagetti and my feet are meatballs when I am in front of a group of adults (kids don’t scare me).

Part 3
Hello First Graders!  Thank you for choosing me to take home!  I am lots of fun, and I like to hang out with you.  You will get to write in the writer’s notebook about what we do together, and share it with your friends!  The writer’s notebook is a place you can write down what you are doing and what is going on in your life.  You can write your thoughts and feelings.  Enjoy! Directions for Care Bear fun!
  1. Take me home.
  2. Take care of me.
  3. Let me spend time with you.
  4. Write about what we do and where we go.
  5. Have fun!
  6. Share with your class.

P.S. I take our Care Bear bag and our favorite Care Bear book, The Day Nobody Shared by Nancy Parent wherever I go.  Maybe we can get someone to read the book to us when we get to your house.

We have read Diary of A Worm by Doreen Cronin in class.  It is about a worm who wrote in his diary.  Here are some of worm’s experiences.

“April 10-It rained all night and the ground was soaked.  We spent the entire day on the sidewalk.  Hopscotch is a very dangerous game.”

“April 15-I forgot my lunch today.  I got so hungry that I ate my homework.”

“May 8-Had the worst nightmare last night-giant birds playing hopscotch.  Mom says I have to stop eating garbage right before I go to bed.”

Examples by Mrs. Hall

January 24th – Today I played with Rainbow Bear.  She watched me do my homework.  My mom read Rainbow Bear’s favorite book.  Then we went to Wal-Mart.  After that, we ate a peanut butter and jelly sandwich.  Then we took a bath and watched TV until bedtime.

January 25th-I took Naptime Bear home with me.  I had fun with him.  He is so soft and cuddly.   We read books.  Nana read The Day Nobody Shared.  I like that book too.  Well, I better get a bath and go to bed.

January 26th-Sunshine Bear and I had so much fun together.  We played outside.  We read his favorite book.  We played with transformers.  We ate and read books.  He even slept with me.
