Journal Invitation

Here is my journal invitation…finally!  It took me forever to figure out how to upload this.  Let me know what you think.

  1. I love your idea to have one journal for the whole class…its so cool that they will be able to look at one another’s home adventures. I like how you actually have a care bear to send around with them too!

  2. Amy,
I think that you invite is so cute and since you started the year with Care Bears it will help the students reconnect with that and get excited about writing. I think that your students will love this.

  3. Amy,
I like your creativity. It is concise, to the point and cute.

  4. I was looking at the rubric as I read your invitation. To me, it appears you have covered every feature. I think your “kid friendly” language combined with the Care Bear theme will be enticing for all students. The students know exactly what is expected of them. The book is a good way to get the parents involved as well.

The examples you provided will be non-threatening and all students can easily describe their day. You may want to add that students can draw certain activities if they are unable to write the words. I think you’ll see a lot of progress in the details of their writing. This would also be great documentation for conferences as well. Parents can see their child’s writing progress throughout this semester.

    Good luck!

    Nicole

  5. Amy:
I think your students are going to love carrying home the care bares and all their accessories. Because of your kid friendly language and appearances, the students will be relaxed to write. It looks like you covered all aspects in the rubric.

  6. I really like your journal invitation. It is kid friendly and I think that your students will have a great time with this journal. For first graders being able to take home a Care Bear to share in activities at home it a great activity. Good Job!
